Work Package 1

There are two main purposes of WP1. From the very start of the project exchanges between the materials researchers, the designers and the manufacturers will be managed and monitored as a key part of the new knowledge contribution. To enable consistent and effective communication and collaboration, regular workshops are scheduled across the three iterative cycles.

The second purpose of WP1 is to explore and envision the potentialities of the new fibres in terms of the market (user perception, material values, market trends and potential applications) and the technological possibilities.  Central to this task will be collaborative exchanges between the market analysis team, the designers and the materials researchers to enable an understanding of the material’s potential.  Designers will draw on these insights to create scenarios of use, incorporating lifecycle thinking.  Ultimately these scenarios will enable the design team to form a primary material characterization and a primary technological challenge for materials R&D.
